Mahabodhi Carla Student home in Mysuru is home to 180 children. The hostel is dedicated to the loving memory of Carla Thaddey from Switzerland, sister of Ms.Monica Thaddey. When it was planned to build this students home, nobody had any idea how this huge project will be fulfilled. At that juncture Maha Upasika Monica Thaddey came to know about this project and she helped to build this home which was inaugurated in 2001 by the Most Ven.Acharya Buddharakkhita Bhanteji. When she told that her sister Carla was fond of children and wanted to build a home for them, we named it as Carla Students Home to respect and fulfill her wish. This noble gesture with magnanimous contributions of Maha Upasika Monica Thaddey is continued till today to help the needy people, educate the poor children and guide the youth. Carla Students Home is fulfilling that need and already hundreds of children passed out after completing their studies successfully.
As it is known as ‘home’, the atmosphere there is also maintained like a family. Children from over 15-20 states of India are living there like a family with absolute love and respect to each other.
