MAHABODHI- HYDERABAD

One of Hyderabad’s best-kept secrets, The Mahabodhi Buddha Vihara is a Buddhist temple and monastery where you can go to meditate for hours together. It also has a library, a cultural space, and a mesmerizing view. This is located in Mahendra Hills in East Marredpally.

Most Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita had wished for a Buddhist center to come up in Hyderabad. By his blessings, Maha Bodhi Society took over an existing temple and started Mahabodhi Buddha Vihara in 2015 at Mahendra Hills in Hyderabad, to serve the cause of the Buddha Sasana. This Vihara is developed into a full-fledged Buddha Vihara with monastery and other humanitarian activities. There are 30 monks at present residing in temporary accommodation. The main monks’ residence building ‘Sangharama’ is under construction.
